How to Make Money on Fiverr
How to make money on Fiverr is a fairly new search term about making money on a popular new freelancing job site named Fiverr.com. Fiverr is based on a simple idea, you can offer any kind of services for $5. And that means almost anyone can make money with Fiverr. This is not one of those Fiverr.com reviews, this is simply a post outlining what exactly Fiverr is and how you can make money with Fiverr.

Fiverr.com
Introducing Fivver.com. Fiverr is a fairly new website with a genius idea behind it. Its a new kind of freelancing website, but much better and easier for beginners to start making money on it. And unlike freelancing sites, its not just limited to major freelancing gigs such as web design, coding and etc. Anything and I mean anything that you can turn into a service of some kind, can be a gig on Fiverr that you can make money with. It basically allows you to create any kind of gigs, and offer them to the public.
Make $5 over & over again
Fiverr is a site where people offer their services to others. It simply connects service providers with potential customers. As the name suggests, all the gigs are $5. For buyers its all free and there is no fee. But, as a service provider, you pay a fee to Fiverr which is $1 for every $5 you earn, which I think is a fair fee, considering it makes it easy for you to find costumers and for potential customers to find you. Which I believe makes Fiverr the best site to make money on for free (Yes, you can argue that since you spend time working on gigs, its not really free. But, do you know of any real “free” ways to make money online? To make money, you have to put something into it. If its not money in the form of investment, it would be your time and some serious efforts. Plus, when most people say free, they mean financially.
Get paid for doing almost anything!
The great thing is that anybody can make money on Fiverr. You don’t have to be a graphic designer or PHP coder or what have you to be able to make money. If you can take a picture, write a song, draw cartoon, text message, tweet, translate to and from any language… (the list goes on and on), then you can make money with Fiverr.
All ads for gigs have a similar structure, which goes something like “I will….for $5″. Whatever kind of service you can do for other will fill in the blank, whether its taking a picture of a street, installing a WordPress theme, making a video of yourself singing a song, or any thing you can imagine.
I can not think of any easier and better way to make money online. It’s simply great! Here are few samples of the kind of gigs people are offering on Fiverr, and are actually making money doing them:
I will teach you how to make money online for $5
I will offer travel advice for post-World Cup wanderers for $5
I will manually submit your website to major directories for $5
I will make a doodle for you for $5
I will give you advice to quit smoking in 2 weeks for $5
I will design your next tattoo for $5
I will mail a postcard from New York City for $5
I will give you a wake up call for $5
The system is set up somehow that after you are done with a project, the buyers can leave positive or negative feedback, which can help or hurt your chances of getting more clients. The better you work, the more positive feedback you get, which obviously brings in more clients. So, you can use Fiverr to build a profile for yourself and get some clients. Its a great way to start building your reputation for whatever service you offer.
I have used Fiverr myself a few times to outsource some of the tasks that I didn’t have the time or knowledge to do, and I can tell you that it was a great experience. I also use Fiverr to make extra money whenever I have some time. And the very first time I setup a gig, I saw the potential. It wasn’t much money, but it was worth it. I spend less than 4 hours in total (setting up the gig, communicating with buyers, completing the service and etc) and made about $75. Not bad for a few hours of light work!

If you are looking for easy and quick ways to make money online, but, don’t have or want to spend any money to invest in any online money making method, Fiverr.com is a great option. And the best thing about making money on Fiverr is that you can start right away and have your gig up and running in less than a few minutes. What are you waiting for? Go make some money now that you know how easy it is to make money on Fiverr.

Hi Zahed,
Yes, it does take time to build up your profile and establish yourself as a trusted service provide. Its just like any other market place. But I think its worth it as Fiverr is becoming more popular every day.
Thank you for your kind words about the article Zahed and good luck.

I have been to the fiverr.com website and I must be especially thick because I cant find any way to actually ‘post’ a gig. There is a ‘how it works’ link but can someone tell me how to place my gig on the site. Also, how do I get my gig near the landing page? Do I pay extra for that, or is it granted to people who have built a following of satisfied customers? More info on how it works please.

Wayne, you have to first register with site (free) than you simply click on create a gig in your dashboard area and take it from there.
Gig are displayed based on the date they were created, so your gig may stay near the top just for a few seconds as new gigs are being created every second. However, if you get a lot of rating and positive feedback, your gig may become “featured gig” which means, your gig will be displayed above all gigs in its category.
I hope this was helpful. Thanks for your questions Wayne.

Hi, this is a great thread. I’ve read about fiverr for a while but haven’t set up any gigs myself. Looks like a fairly simple way to get some easy cashflow. Waiting 14 days to get paid doesn’t matter to me as I never withdraw my paypal money, I just use it to buy programs and other stuff online. I think fiverr is a great idea… Might have to set up my own clone site
Great blog, thanks.

The only problem with Fiverr.com is that when someone buys your “Gig” – usually through PayPal, Fiverr.com holds the money for 14-days. The person offering the gig does not get paid until 14 days after they completed the work. Fiverr is not a good deal for Sellers, and not a good way to make fast money.

Hey Sudha,
Well yeah you have to wait 14 days for t to clear, but I dont think that’s a reason for it not being a good deal for sellers. You have to do that in order to eliminate frauds. But if you can’t wait 14 days, then sure that’s not for you.
Thanks for raising the point and commenting Sudha.

I am fairly new to fiverr, but I am making a decent amount of money with one particular gig. At first I waited a week or so before I got my first sale, but after I got my first feedback, more orders starting coming in. Have made 30 sales so far. None of my other gigs have gained attention as of yet, but maybe they will soon. Anyways, money can be made on fiverr if you post the right gig.

This is a great thread on Fiverr, warts and all. I think people need to be aware they won’t have instant access to their funds. However, once they get a steady stream of gigs going, they’ll have money coming in all the time.
Fiverr is great for offering a taste of what you do. I know people who have gotten much better paying tasks after performing a $5 gig for a client. We’ve profiled some of the most successful people on Fiverr on our BestOfFiverr blog.

Satrap,
I have to say that you give a shockingly sugar coated analysis of Fiver.com. I have been on the site for quite some time now and am now getting to terms with what the site is really about and what it has become.
Firstly, there is no conceivable way that you could have made $75 for four hours work. SIMPLY NO WAY. In theory, yes this site would facilitate this but just as life isn’t as sweet, neither is this iconic ‘fiverr.com’ that you hold with such highest esteem.
Secondly, as others have outlined Fiver take a 20% commission straight up so you get $4 per gig. How many gigs did you do in order to get this money in just four hours? 18.75 was it?
Think about why so many people have had so many problems with the site; why there have been so many negative comments on this page.
However ironic, I wouldn’t be surprised at all if you were paid $5 to give this artificial representation of the site. Well, at the very least a one sided representation of the website.
Read between the lines.
Find out what the site is really about.
Blog about that.
Blog reality, the truth.
At least a balanced review!
P.S. I would strongly recommend that you take up Barbara Denney’s offer of proof-reading your site. There are many grammatical errors throughout.
Keep up the biased blogging
Joking aside: Good to see the discussion brought to light though Satrap, and I commend you on that. Apologies if I appear to come off very strongly but this blog reads as if you work for the PR team of Fiver.com.

I am sorry, but I think you misunderstood something. I said “…4 hours in total…” and total being the important word here. I dont mean I sat down from 2 o’clock today and by 6 o’clock I had made $75. What I meant is that in total if I had to calculate how much time I spend in the course of past few weeks to make $75 that would be around 4 hours.
And no I have not gotten any money from Fiverr, I dont even know them. I mean if there was any relationship, at least I could get my own gigs on fiverr featured so I could make more money. But, no there is no relationship here.
I have seen many negative comments about fiverr as well, however, this post is about my personal experience and I never had any problem, though I never had to contact fiverr people for any problem either. And believe it or not, I dont really care about Fiverr and its owners or what have you, I simply write about it because, my blog is about making money online ad fiverr is simply another way to make some extra cash online.
So, as you can see, its simply a matter of you misreading what I wrote or perhaps I did a bad job of explaining it. Any way, thanks for your comment and I would love to hear your take on it. Hope to see you around more often. I would love to have readers like yourself who dont simply believe everything they read whcih is one thing I always try to tell people about online money making. However, I think its best to not accuse each other because we simply misunderstood a sentence or two.
Yes, I know I have misspelling and grammar mistakes, but I would rather learn as I go along. English is my 5th language and I never took any formal classes to learn how to read or write it. And I think this way it helps me learn faster and better. I apologize to you and my other readers for these mistakes. I will do my best to bring them down to fewer and fewer numbers.

I didnt mean for it to be accusatory in tone and I apologise if it came across that way. I just felt very passionately about it when I wrote it and perhaps thats why it came across that why.
I understood what you meant alright, with respect to the four hours in total – not that they were consecutive hours but just in general. Thats impressive. If you made that much in that short a time, please tell me your secret! Cos I been on it a while and I have found it difficult to make that much from it.
I agree with your comments that people should think about what they read, lets just say thats why rants were so strongly put!!
Also, I was joking about the grammar thing by the way! Fair play to you for blogging in a different language. Thats quite an accomplishment.
Keep up the good work,
I’ll be sure to keep an eye on the blog.
Thanks for your response.

Hey RM,
Good to hear from you again. No need to apologize, I understand, sometimes we get so emotional and passionate that we don’t realize in whcih we are talking (writing). Plus with all the hypes and lies that so called “internet marketing gurus” come up with in order to make money off of newbies who are trying to learn to make money online, it is understandable to be skeptic and you should be skeptic if you dont want to be scammed.
There is really no secret there. I really dont understand why you think its impossible to make $60-70 in 2 weeks or so on fiverr. Imagine, you have 4-5 gigs and the firs day or so you usually get a rush of order because your gig is on the first page.
So, even if you get 4 orders from 4 gigs, thats $80 minus $16 fiverr fee and you have got $64. Of course , if you do a good job and get positive feedback, more orders will come in (as its happening to me for the past few days). And thats only for the first few days. Now, I realize not every gig is going to go the same way I described, but my point is that its not that unusual or impossible to make that much money.
Not to mention that if you advertise your gig on online forums, and classifieds like craigslist, you will get more orders. Especially if you use forums related to your gig. My gigs are mostly related to webmaster stuff, so I advertise on webmaster related forums. And by advertise I mean, using my signature (that shows on every post you make on a forum) to place a link to my gig.
Please feel free to ask if there is anything else you are not sure about or have doubt about. As I said, I could care less about Fiverr and whoever runs it, I simply write about it because people visit this blog to read and learn about ways to make money online and fiverr is just another way to make a little money. And if I do expedience negative things, I won’t hesitate to write about it.
Hope to see you around here more often.

Your English is not bad at all. I will be curious which are the other four. Your errors are mainly, I think, a dyslexic trait. I like your comment on Fiverr. I am just experimenting on it, got my first gig asking questions in Spanish for an Spanish version of an “Ask a question” site, and so far, I would say, was good. The thing I will appreciate is if you can write about ideas for gigs. It is also somehow difficult to calculate how much effort is worthy $4 bucks. In any case, keep on the good work. How many gigs in reality someone has to do to make money on fiverr. Because paypal and fiverr always takes a percentage, so for $3 you have to do alot of work. I doubt anyone can get 100s of orders on daily basis on fiverr. Correct me if I am wrong.

Well, thats part of doing business. Its like you rent an office space to put your service in front of people. Of course you gonna have to pay rent. Thats the same with Fiverr. PayPal on the hand is the same as your banking transactions or credits cards. I mean thats how they make money. Other wise how are they going to provide this service and pay their hundreds of employees?…
I agree and I also doubt anyone can get 100s of orders everyday. No one is claiming that! But, not the less, Fiverr is a great way to make some extra money.

Of course, juts like any other company, there will be a few complaints here and there, but as far as legitimacy, I believe Fiverr is totally legit and the prove is my payment and thousands of other who continually work and make money there.

They keep our money for 14 days. What are they doing with that money for 14 days and they pay only $3.92 per sale.
There are several errors too.
14 days is not 14 days really. They cleared my funds only after 20 days. The time varies.
I guess they are money laundering service.

Alex, I am not here to defend Fiverr, I use them and I myself don’t like the fact that they keep the money for that long, however, they do that because of some legal reasons and also if a buyer isn’t happy with the results after a few days or so and requests a refund, it gives fiverr a few days to investigate the problems and if in case the buyer is right, they can refund the money. That is what I would think for why they keep the money.
As far as taking a dollar or so for themselves, I think that’s reasonable for the service they provide which is matching buyers and sellers, just like ebay and other such services do.

Keep emailing them or contact them any way you can. You can even get their address and phone number using whois.com(put their domain name in the box an hit submit. It will then display all the contact information from the site owner) and write a latter to them or call them. I hope your situations gets resolved.

I started reading your content and see that under the headline “Make $5 over and over again”, instead of ‘CUSTOMER’, you talk about COSTUMERS (people who make costumes). Are we talking about customers or costumers? For five dollars (or for no dollars for that matter), I will be happy to proofread your website content. I’m not a computer whiz. Barbara,
Thank you very much for bringing this to my attention. I am so sorry about the mistake. Although there are no excuses for that, I have my reasons for misspelling or grammar problems once in a while. English isn’t my mother tongue, and I never took any formal classes to learn how to speak or write English. I simply learned and continue to learn by listening, reading, writing, speaking and connecting the dots together, (basically trial and errors) in the past 7 years that I have been living in USA.
I proofread my posts at least 3 times. But, because of what I explained above, sometimes I miss little things like the word costumer and customer which One misplaced latter changes the meaning of the word.
I mean no disrespect to my readers and English language. Its just shortcoming on my part. I really really appreciate you bringing this to my attention, it shows me you truly read the content I create, which makes me work even harder to better my writing skills and also the quality of my content.
I also appreciate your offer for proofreading my posts. But, I think its best for me to do it myself, even if it means you and other fantastic readers and visitors of my blog would have to correct me here and there. As I think its the best way for me to learn to write in English with no spelling or grammatical errors. Again, I thank you so much for caring enough to take time out of your day to bring it to my attention.

The quality is variable, I have noticed that some of the ratings look a little suspect to me for some providers.
Ultimately, $5 is not a major cost to try someone out. If they turn out to be good or even better value then you have someone to go to for repeat business.
This is what happens with my own services. You can see in my link that I do many things, so far most of my feedback has come on my article writing service.

I have used sites like elance and paid more than $50 for some tasks that were done with very low quality, at the same time I have paid people $5 on fiverr to do the same task and they were done professionally. I just think that just like any other site, there are going to be good and bad. You just have to find people who do quality work. Which I think the ability to leave feedback helps to identify good ones from the not so good ones.
