How To Use eHow To Build Backlinks & Drive Targeted Traffic To Your Blog?
When it comes to building backlinks and driving targeted traffic to a blog or website, article marketing without a doubt is one of the best ways to go. But, usually when we talk about article submission and submitting article, we are talking about using traditional article directories, which is great. Nothing wrong with that, specially if you are using dofollow article directories which carry more weight when it comes to building backlinks to get a better search engine ranking . I am doing it and I am having a great success with it. But, there are other kinds of article sites out there that you can use as well.
Using eHow.com to build backlinks & drive traffic to your site
Article sites such as eHow.com. Submitting your article to sites like ehow is one of the most effective, yet most untapped ways to drive targeted traffic to your site. Not only that, ehow can give you very high quality backlinks as well. I have been submitting my articles to how for quite some times now and the results are nothing less than great. It gives me both a great quality backlink, and some very targeted traffic on a daily bases. I don’t have much articles on ehow yet, but even with the few articles that I have already submitted, I am getting a fare amount of targeted traffic each and every day.
eHow has PR 8 and receives over 65,000,000 monthly visitors
While you may not think of ehow as a good source of traffic generation and backlink building, you will be surprised with the result you will get using ehow for article submission. eHow is a site with PR 8, and according to alexa, ehow has a Traffic Estimate rank of 69 with an estimated 65,369,000 monthly visits. It has a worldwide rank of 147, and is ranked 42 in the United States.
Articles on eHow has to be in “how-to” format
Thew problem with submitting articles to sites like ehow is that you can’t just submit your article in its normal format. They have to be a “how-to” article. And all of their articles starts with “how to…” And the articles have to be a “step by step” kind of thing.
So, what I have done is, I gradually developed this style of writing in which I write almost all of my posts that I publish on my blog and other directories, in steps. So, when it comes to submitting to ehow, I just have to turn the title into a “how to…” title and the rest is just copy and past, just the way it is.
It takes you a few second to change your title and make it a how-to title, and perhaps change a few things in the body or the article, but the results you get is nothing less than amazing. With the pr number of 8, ehow is a great site for building backlinks for your blog or website, and with over 65,000,000 monthly visits, you are sure to get a good number of targeted traffic to your site as well.

As you’ve mentioned ehow has become part of Demand Studios who took over the blog submission. I think article submission on Ehow is no longer the way it used to be. For those inquiring where to apply to become a writer at Demand Studios, here’s the application page:

Yeah Michael. I think eHow has changed a few things. Now, you need to apply to become a writer, where as before you could just register and start submitting articles right away. Thanks for your question.

It was stated in this article “So, what I have done is, I gradually developed this style of writing in which I write almost all of my posts that I publish on my blog and other directories, in steps. So, when it comes to submitting to ehow, I just have to turn the title into a “how to…” title and the rest is just copy and past, just the way it is.” I think one needs to be very careful about using this advice since Google will penalize sites with duplicate content. So, I you have a web site and decided to cut and paste from that site into eHow, you’re asking for some trouble. Google will penalize one or both sites for having duplicate content. This penalty will certainly hurt the flow of traffic to those sites. Less flow mean less money.
Consequently, before submitting anything to any site, make sure the content is original and does not contain duplicate paragraphs, sentences or phrases. Google’s Panda algorithm will catch it definitely penalize.

Hi Satrap,
Thank you for this article. I didn’t even know you could submit articles to eHow. Although, I’m disappointed to find out that now they have tied it down a bit with specific writing assignments. How have you found that this has affected your ability to write “How To” articles on subjects that are related to the site you are trying to promote?
Thanks!

satrap,
I’ve looked at this before and thought you could not submit articles. I’m not sure how old this post is but can you still do this? I’ve got a great article I would love to get on there. It would be good if you could track replies on your site as well.

HtF,
Although now ehow is a part of Demand Studios company, you still can still submit articles. the only difference is that you can’t just write on any subject. You have to apply to become a write first, then you can choose from available assignment to write how-to articles. But the linking and the rest of the stuff is the same as before. I hope that answered your question.

Hi I would like to know how to go about understanding why I am not getting alot of traffic to my website. I have 124 backlinks divided up in MSN, Yahoo, alltheweb, altavista. However one day I will get 24 visitors and then the next day 4 visitors. I have builded my links up doing it manually and and they are building up the right way.
I am wondering if Im doing something wrong in a sense I think I should be getting a reasonable amount of visitors to my site. I know patience is the key but with my site being seen on the web and the links are building gradually I see a significant amunt of people signing up.

Hey Thomas, You are on the right track, keep doing what your doing. It just takes some time to start getting real traffic. 124 Backlinks isn’t that much compare to what most sites have (in the thousands), so you have to keep working on it, but I guaranty if you give it some time, you will see results. Don’t give up! Good luck.

Hi Satrap,
Great article and very timely!
I am about to start the whole article writing process for my spray tanning product. I have been avoiding it like a child avoids homework.
Thank you for the insight into eHow and the links to your other relevant posts on the dofollow directories. That has narrowed down who I will and who I won’t submit to.
Thank you!
I hope all is going well. See you back here soon!

Hi Jacinta, good to see you. I know, I was just like that, trying to avoid doing the home work. But, the great thing about it is that you can see results in most cases in about few days, so that motivated me more, Now I kind become an addict to article submission.
Just get started and I am sure you will do good. Good luck with your tanning blog.
