The Truth About Making Money Online
Making money online is something that most of us would like to be able to do. But, sadly a lot of us will never make it. Most people who set out to make a living online, will fail and give up in the first few months or so. And that’s not because its not possible to make money online, or that we aren’t lucky enough to make it.
No! Its because of all the misconceptions and the wrong mindsets. Its because of all the lies and BSs that we have been fed for years by the so called “internet marketers”, “big online money making gurus” and others who are making money by telling us lies and making me and you believe that if only we buy their product, we will get rich overnight. There are a lot of myths and lies about making money online out there, that if you want to make money online, you should know about.
Making money online isn’t easy or quick
To make any decent amount of money online, whether its through selling on eBay, affiliate marketing, blogging, paid surveys or any other online money making method, you need to have a plan. A realistic plan along with a set of realistic goals. Thinking because its online, you will make money over night, is the first step towards failure.
Although scammers and those who try to tell you that making money online is easy and fast, the truth of the matter is that making money online is no less easier or faster than making money offline and in the real world. In fact I believe in some situations making money online is much harder and takes longer time than earning a living offline. Snake oil salesmen tell you those lies in order to make you buy their crappy so called “report” or “product” so they can make money off of you. Don’t you think if it was that easy to make money, they would be doing it themselves, instead of going through all of the efforts and time it takes to create a report, set up a website, drive traffic to it, advertise it and more, all in an order to make a few dollars from selling these so called “money making reports”?…
Stick with one method
One of the most common reasons why so many newbies fail in making money online is the simple fact that they give up to soon and they jump from one idea to another. And that’s because of that wrong mind set and because of the beliefs in those online money making myths and lies.
They think they can make money over night, so they try a method, but they don’t go all the way with it and they don’t give enough time fro the results to show. After a few days, weeks or months of working on it and not making any money, they think its the method that’s wrong. So, they give up and look for other ways to make money online. And since most online money making methods take time and hard work, they repeat this process over and over. They spend hunderds of dollars on useless reports and money making e-books and never make a dime out of them, until one day they completely give up and come to believe that you they cant make money online.
The best thing you can do to ensure you make money online, is to stick with it. When you find a method that you like and want to take that route for making money, give it all you have got. Make a plan and stick with it, until you get results.
I am not saying stick with any crappy method for rest of your life, even you aren’t making money after putting a lot of efforts ad time into it. But, you will know if after putting a lot of efforts and time into a specific method and not making a dime, if its because of what your doing or better yet because of what you aren’t doing right, or its simply because that specific methods has flaws in it, and isn’t a very reliable way for making money online.
Not everyone can make money the same way!
Another misconception about earning money online is that most people think because Mr “X” can make money blogging, they can make money with a blog as well. Just because someone else is making money affiliate marketing, doesn’t mean you can do that too. Just like real life, not everybody can make money the same way. Different methods require different skills, experience, knowledge and attitude. There are a lot of people who are making money affiliate marketing, but they couldn’t make a dime if you asked them to start an online business selling thing on eBay. You have to consider the requirements and all that it takes for one to make money with a certain method, before putting a lot of time and effort into it.
So, if you want to really earn money online, get your mind set right and forget about easy and quick money. Be prepared for failures, disappointments and hard work. Find an online money making method that fits you and you think you can handle. Make a plan and fallow through. Stick with your method until you succeed or fail. If you succeed, scale it up, out source your time consuming but necessary tasks, so you can focus more on more important things in your business and make more money. If you fail, move on to another method, and repeat this process until you succeed in making money online.

Great article and absolutely TRUE. I’m tired of people who equate making any kind of money online with guaranteed failure because they refuse to put the same amount of effort into it as they would with a “normal” job. Its hard work, but real effort and persitence can yield great rewards.

This is exactly how these money making gurus make money themselves. Selling a little bit of valuable information but keeping most of it to themselves. Most of them are con men and you should research it yourself. There are many resources on the internet that you can find about making money, promoting your website etc. IF you’re creative and can learn certain techniques and twist them into a new idea, you can create things no one else is doing. That is where you can skyrocket your business. Creativity is key!

I have been in the throws of developing a website for over a year now. Truth be known, there are quite a few charlatans who will gladly take your money on a load of false promises. I found that when promised a way to get rich quick that it is NEVER a reality but a way for these charlatans to feed off the desparation of those in need of an alternative income.
I have paid for special training to help me gain the information needed to advance my career. There is so much to learn in the web world that I feel some proper direction from time to time is worth the effort to find.
My hat’s off to those like yourself that provide positive and honest appraisals of what to expedt and how to forage ahead and win for a change.
Thank you for the good work!

Alan, Thank you for your kind words.
Yes, it is sad that there are so many people who simply take advantage of other people’s desperation in order to make a few bucks.
To be honest, in my experience, I have found that almost all of the information that you need to learn how to make money online can be found for FREE on the internet. It just takes a little time to research and find these information.
The problem is that so many people have been led to believe that there is a magic button for making money online that most people spend a lot of times and money searching for it. They buy every new report that comes out and promises “the secret to making money online”. They end up spending a lot more money for useless information than what they actually make using those information, and thats if they make any money at all.
Any way, I wish you good luck with your website Alan and hope to see you more often around here.

You are very accurate here. People who enter the marketing industry need to understand why hype is used. Nobody wants to buy from a dude who says “this is a hard goal, but it is worth it”. Of course there are niche markets like bodybuilding that attract people who want to work hard to achieve something big, but the “make money” niches are saturated with attractive offers. In order to get interest from buyers you need to present the easy side of things, make it look like their worries will end when they get the product.
Mature people understand success takes hard work, but they also want to know about the short cuts when they exist. You don’t have to peddle deception to peddle easier ways of doing things.
There’s a balance to be struck in the “voice” and tone used in marketing our products. You have to match the tone to the people you are speaking to. It’s a matter of appropriateness. People like to get excited and buy things. Marketing helps them do that. So the good thing to do is give people optimism and energy and tools they can use. they’ll pay you good money for it when you get some leverage in the marketplace by building a list or getting traffic to your sites.

loren, Thanks for the comment. I totally agree with what you are saying, I understand about the needs for the hype and excitement, and that if you told people the hard part of the job, they wouldn’t probably buy your product. Which by the way I still don’t think its a good excuse to not give the people all the facts they need to know before buying a product from you.
However, I am talking about those so called “internet marketers” who take advantage of people’s emotions by telling them out right lies about their products to make them think that only if they buy this report or that product, all of their financial problems will fade away and they will be rich over night.
On the other hand, Its wise to take notice of the people who fall fo such nonsense. they are responsible as well, for believing in such lies and not asking the questions from themselves like if this was true why this guy isn’t rich himself, or “why does he need to work this hard to make money selling me this product”. But, of course the argument would be that people diversify their income streams, so that’s why many people sell their methods of making money online as a report to make extra money. Which is understandable and is a whole another story.
I also know that there are hunderds of honest marketers out there that make money with integrity and create and sell products and reports that they truly believe in. All I am doing here is trying to open up people’s ayes so that they can see and understand that making money online is no different that making money offline and in the real world.
